Gameplay involves players moving Simon around locations in the game, interacting with objects and other characters at each site. The game employed the same style of verbal commands found in other titles of the period, including The Secret of Monkey Island.Īs a point-and-click adventure game, the player controls the protagonist of the story, Simon, by using the mouse with exception to the iOS and Android versions, which feature touchscreen controls. The game was well-received by critics, who praised the humour, graphics and gameplay, with some minor criticism towards the plot. The lead character's design was inspired by that of the fictional British television character Blackadder, with the character voiced by Chris Barrie in the CD re-release. The game's setting was inspired by the novels of the Discworld series, and incorporates parodies on fantasy novels and fairy tales, such as The Lord of the Rings and Jack and the Beanstalk. Simon the Sorcerer is a 1993 point-and-click adventure game developed and published by Adventure Soft, for Amiga and MS-DOS. I've played most of the other games mentioned in the thread and a lot of them are really good, but these are the ones I consider to be the most humorous.Amiga, Amiga CD32, MS-DOS, RISC OS, iOS, Android, Microsoft Windows

  • Zork: Grand Inquisitor (The only Zork game I played, so I can't speak to the rest of the series, but does have nice light humor).
  • Paradigm (More internet humor than the others, but it did have some really funny parts).
  • Eric the Unready (Very different gameplay style since it is more text parser based, but also very funny).
  • The Darkside Detective (no voice acting, but has similar humor to LucasArts).
  • Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail (The funniest Sierra game I've played, though a bit more raunchier than the other games on this list and also has no dead ends).
  • Ben and Dan series (More British style humor, they don't have voice acting but the first two are point and click, the third has platforming elements).
  • Sam and Max series (All of them are very funny, but the first one is a bit more open so it's very easy to get stuck or lost).
  • Day of the Tentacle (A must play classic).
  • Rest of the Deponia series (Haven't played four, but if you liked the first one, the second and third are similar).
  • Rest of the Monkey Island series (Escape From is not point and click and Tales of is not 2D though still funny).
  • I don't have much to add that hasn't been said already, but I'm glad that there's discussion about adventure games on the front page. I don't think there are hints for a lot of new games, but I use it all the time when playing classic adventures.
